SmartScreen™ is a very different kind of application, and departs from the Background Screening norm in a number of ways.
The most obvious departure is the fact that the program is presented as a set of Internet enabled Windows, and not as a standard browser (like Internet Explorer, Firefox and Mozilla). Liken this approach to Microsoft Outlook, for example. The Outlook e-mail manager is also presented as a set of Internet Enabled Windows. Other Internet enabled Windows applications include Skype, iTunes, Google Earth and McAfee.
Effectively, SmartScreen™ is a specialized browser that understands a lot about Background Screening orders. It knows how to connect to MIE, how to transmit orders via the Internet, and how to log you on and off.
It can also do things that standard browsers cannot do, or find great difficulty in doing. For example it can access the hard drive of your local PC, or even that of a remote server, it can store Background Screening orders for editing at a later stage, attach documents to Background Screening orders, and even capture fingerprints via a USB port!
It can also report on your Background Screening activity in a far more structured way, store reports for later viewing, show you pending and complete work, and generally increase your productivity and viewing pleasure.

MIE’s flagship qualification verification supply system, the NQR® (National Qualifications Register) is the custodian of almost 3 million tertiary qualification records, instantly verifying qualifications issued by more than 20 higher education institutions in South Africa.

NRR™
Borrowing from the massive success of the NQR®, its younger sibling, the NRR™ (National Reference Register) has been developed and will verify the employment histories on behalf of corporate South Africa.

ePCV
MIE’s ePCV (electronic Personal Credential Verification) Integration product allows any user, anywhere, to use MIE’s services from within their own systems. In fact, MIE’s own SmartScreen™ and WebScreen products rely on ePCV integration.
ePCV is based on internationally accepted information interchange standards, and uses a stock standard protocol called XML (eXtensible Markup Language).
